Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau

Good Friday morning!

The CVB  CVB Team continues to make a concerted effort to better communicate with our key stakeholders and receive valuable feedback on future marketing and sales strategy.  This week alone, the staff hosted five important meetings.

The first was a Virtual Familiarization Tour with Canadian and International media who, despite challenging travel times, continue to have a high interest in Virginia Beach as a leisure destination. Erin Goldmeier and Kelli Norman on our staff worked together on the virtual presentation and Erin provided guidance yesterday to a group of over 40 participants during this session.

From a meetings and conventions perspective, the CVB Sales Team and hotel partners traveled to Richmond to participate in a Society of Government Meeting Planners conference where we networked with key state-based clients. Also, our Meetings & Conventions Division hosted a Director of Sales meeting for our hotel partners that included over 30 attendees and rich agenda of industry-based information.

The CVB also participated in a meeting of the Virginia Beach Sports Event Task Force.  This newly formed group is addressing several critical operational topics to assure that our playing fields, beaches, sports facilities, and new magnificent Sports Center will be welcoming and safe venues for athletes in the all-important sports marketplace.

In addition, the CVB hosted it’s monthly Advertising Advisory Committee meeting where a significant amount of marketing strategy and tactics, plus destination performance results was shared.  This information is always posted in our Partner Portal and here’s the direct link to that information.

Finally, the work of the CVB Community Task Force continues with the completion of the group’s third meeting.  The Task Force has been charged by the City Council to make recommendations concerning the future structure and governance of the CVB to assure the organization is maximizing the significant investment which supports Virginia Beach convention and tourism efforts. We appreciate the time and effort of the 17 members of this hardworking group of community stakeholders.

We couldn’t accomplish or mission without the strong support of the community and for that our CVB team says: “thank you”.  The team continues to make a concerted effort to better communicate with our key stakeholders and receive valuable feedback on future marketing and sales strategy.  This week alone, the staff hosted five important meetings.

Sincerely,

Bill Hanbury, CVB Executive Advisor
