Dear Valued Tourism Partners,

It’s been an exciting week in Virginia Beach, and I hope you’re all gearing up for a busy weekend. With an added hour of daylight, we’ll finally begin to enjoy longer days starting Sunday as the clocks spring forward.

The city will be buzzing with activity through Sunday as more than 7,500 athletes, their friends, families, and coaches converge on Virginia Beach for an action-packed sports weekend. We’re excited to have five different sports events taking place at four different venues across the city. With track and basketball at the Sports Center, cheer and dance at the Convention Center, tennis at the Tennis Center, and softball at the Princess Anne Athletic Complex, there shouldn't be a dull moment! Thanks to everyone who is key to making these events happen. On and off the field, there is amazing teamwork in play this weekend.

I’m thrilled to share another great CVB staff update. Michelle Boyette has accepted the position of Director of Administration for the CVB. Michelle, who has been serving dual roles for an extended period (Interim CVB Director of Administration and Assistant GM of the VBCC for Business Operations), will move into the role of CVB Director of Administration on a full-time basis. We’re extremely fortunate to have Michelle as a  leader on our team as she brings 25-years of experience and has the highest level of integrity, honesty, work ethic, and capabilities to help make CVB shine. Please help me wish her congratulations.

News from our friends at the Resort Management Office: Applications are now being accepted for the Resort Management Office’s new ambassador program. Block by Block, the company selected to oversee this new program, already operates similar successful programs in over 30 states. The Virginia Beach initiative, which begins April 1, is aimed at enhancing the resort area with cleaning and safety patrols as well as help for those in need of city or visitor information. A huge improvement is anticipated, and we are excited this project got a green light so we can showcase all the amazing attributes and offerings of the main resort thoroughfare.
