Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau

January 28, 2022

Dear Valued Tourism Industry Partners,

I hope everyone is staying safe and warm with the winter weather that has come into our area. Ironically, the Virginia Beach Sports Center (VBSC) hosted the 2022 Blizzard Blast Volleyball Tournament last weekend during our first snowstorm.  This event had been booked for quite some time and drew an estimated 500 athletes and spectators from West Virginia, North Carolina, and Virginia. A huge shout out to our friends in the Virginia Beach Department of Public Works for their dedication to ensuring clear roads for all our guests. We couldn’t have had a successful event without their help and support.

As we prepare for round two of winter weather here in coastal Virginia Beach, we encourage everyone to stay informed. The City offers the following advice to residents and visitors:

  • Keep aware of emergency messaging by local officials posting to the City's webpage, VBgov.com; Facebook.com/CityofVaBeach; Twitter.com/CityofVaBeach; Nextdoor, and the City's Communication Office.
  • Tune into your local TV and radio stations.
  • If you need help, information, or resources before, during or after the storm, call 311. Only call 911 for emergencies. Those with hearing impairments can call 711 for the Virginia Relay Center.
  • For information about winter weather preparedness, visit VBgov.com/beprepared, Ready.gov, and VAemergency.gov.
  • Read the official City news releases

Southeastern Tourism Society (STS) Update

Final details are coming together as STS quickly approaches. This is going to be an amazing opportunity to showcase our city. We encourage everyone to join in the excitement as the meeting delegates, journalists, and suppliers (estimated to be about 350 total) make their way around our city. Be sure to be included in our listing of  “Dine Around” partners so we can show off the amazing local food, drink, and friendliness we’re known for! Click here for more.

My team and I remain committed to you and our industry. Please let me know if we can assist you.

Sincerely,
Nancy Helman
