I hope everyone is having a busy summer so far - it’s hard to believe we are halfway through July already! We’re seeing lots of activity as we move about the City and it's very exciting to feel the positive energy our guests bring from across the country. 

Regional Lifesaving Competition - A special shout out to Tom Gill and his team at the Virginia  Beach Lifeguarding Association (VBLA) for hosting the 2022 Regional Lifeguard Championships and the inaugural Junior Lifeguard Invitational earlier this week. More than 200 athletes descended upon the Oceanfront to participate in this unique competition which mimics life-saving scenarios and covers most of the acquired skills a lifeguard needs to uphold the duties of the job. Events include swimming, running, paddling, using paddle boards and surf skis, or a combination of these methods. Relay events include a rescue simulation relay, a sprint relay on the beach and the beach flag event. Read more about the event here and watch for result postings on the VBLA website.  

CVB’s Meetings & Convention/Services Team’s Director of Sales Meeting Scheduled - This week, the M & C/Services team is preparing to host the Director of Sales meeting on Thursday,  July 21 from 2:30 - 3:30  p.m. in the Atlantic Ballroom at the Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront. The agenda includes CVB Interim Vice President of Tourism Marketing and Sales, Kelli Norman, who will discuss the important work of the Tourism Team, especially as it relates to the international side of the house and the vital Canadian tourism market. Also, CVB Director of Convention Sales, Sally Noona, looks forward to sharing the much anticipated rollout of FuturePace, an analysis of the City’s meetings & events book of business and its pace over time.
