Dear Valued Tourism Industry Partners,

It’s a big, exciting weekend here in Virginia Beach, however, I’d like to start this week’s message with some exciting news. A huge congratulations goes out to Deputy City Manager Taylor Adams, who oversees the Tourism and Economic Development Portfolio, on his most recent accomplishment. DCM Adams, was recently named to the Virginia Business Virginia 500: The 2022-23 Power List, Virginia’s most powerful and influential leaders in business, government, politics and education. Read more about this great news here. Congratulations, Taylor, we’re proud of you and honored to work with you every day.

The CVB is excited, as I am sure you all are, about the events taking place over the next several weeks. Starting this weekend with the SonRise Music Festival at 24th Street Park and the Neptune Beach Blast at 31st St. Park, the ViBe Literacy Arts Festival in the ViBe District Park this Saturday and the 2022 NAS Oceana Air Show tomorrow and Sunday. There is something for everyone this weekend!

The CVB would like to thank our partners for helping make the VIC’s recent blood drive a success. A total of 13 pints of blood were collected and donated - a tremendous show of effort by the local hospitality community. Thank you all very much!

Community Collaboration Painted A Success! - Last week, the CVB Sports Marketing division worked alongside local artist Troy Summerell, better known as “Onie Tonie,” and a group of volunteers to bring a long-awaited art project to Seatack Community Park. The volunteers helped Summerell give the park a visual boost with his signature Onie Tonie-style art. Painting the mural on the park’s basketball courts and backboards were residents, community and city leaders and members from multiple city departments. This project will give many Seatack residents a chance to have a unique sports experience right in their own backyard. The project was spearheaded by ViBe Executive Director Kate Pittman with support from CVB Sports Marketing, a proud supporter of both the ViBe District and the Seatack community.

As always, my team and I remain committed to you and our industry. Please let me know how we can assist.

Sincerely,
Nancy Helman
CVB Director
