Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau

Good morning on a beautiful Friday in Virginia Beach.

This edition of the Friday Update is limited to two important topics.  The first is Gov. Ralph Northam’s announcement that the state is stepping up enforcement of mask usage and social distancing rules.  The entire Virginia Beach tourism industry should fully embrace these guidelines to assure our guests understand that “safe and clean” are priorities for their wellbeing.  They are also priorities for the wellbeing of our hospitality industry employees and residents.  National surveys tell us that the most important concern for travelers is to be assured that a destination is adhering to these safety standards.  And, the foundation of the CVB’s current advertising messages is based on this winning formula.  Our visitation numbers are reflecting that the economic recovery is well underway based on this marketing strategy.  So, let’s all do our part to support these safe and clean standards so our economic recovery will continue moving forward.

The second topic for this week’s Update is the link to the presentation made by the CVB team yesterday at the Advertising Advisory Committee.  This document can best be described as the Economic Recovery Plan for the Virginia Beach tourism industry.  It provides an update on the current state of the economy with some compelling data points.  Hopefully, this information will be a resource to guide your own business.  We also present in this deck the creative that is driving our multi-dimensional marketing initiatives across the full matrix of communications channels.  Finally, the presentation provides updates on our other important goals related to sports, meetings and conventions, and group tourism.  The entire presentation entails about 30 slides, but it’s well worth your time to review.
