The CVB continues to make safety and cleanliness a top priority. Recently, the marketing communications team created colorful “No Mask, No Service” awareness signs which were hand-delivered to hundreds of businesses throughout Virginia Beach. Staff also created and distributed Summer Smarter posters to the 60+ businesses that enrolled in the Summer Smarter program. “No Mask, No Service” posters are still available for pickup at the main CVB office at 2101 Parks Ave., Suite 500 or at the Visitor Information Center.
STR Performance
For the first week in August (August 2-8), Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks lead the comp set in weekly occupancy at 69.3% (VB) and 70.3% (OBX). Average Daily Rate (ADR) is down -10.3% YoY from July 12-August 8. We anticipate the full monthly July report next week, and will share that information with you soon. While we are seeing a slight decline as the summer continues, the CVB continues to push forward with marketing efforts.

While school will look a little different this year for many, the flexibility of virtual learning provides opportunities to explore the world outside the classroom in a safe and effective manner. Here in Virginia Beach, we’ve partnered with many of our hotels and attractions to bring a little education to visitors in an affordable and hassle-free way. The marketing team recently developed a “Surf, Sand & Study” consumer family vacation package which will target drive markets that have announced 100% virtual schooling.
