Last week Virginia Beach CVB sales manager Jim Coggin was back on the road!
Coggin attended the Select Traveler Marketplace, the first in-person, tourism-related tradeshow since COVID-19 restrictions were initiated in March. Bank club and affinity club directors who plan motor coach group travel attended the conference. We have seen an uptick in group travel because people feel safe traveling with friends and family in a group, so it was perfect timing for Virginia Beach to have a presence at this show!
Select Traveler is a one-on-one appointment-based show with hundreds of people in attendance. This year, Virginia Beach secured 28 appointments with buyers and was able to facilitate two new leads/tours for spring of 2021. Buyers expressed that their groups are eager to begin traveling again, and are planning now for late spring, summer, fall, and winter of 2021 as well as 2022. Several buyers confirmed they already have Virginia Beach tours booked for 2021 and still plan to travel. Many new connections were made, and follow-up will hopefully lead to securing additional business for Virginia Beach.
