Happy Friday!
We have great news to share as we head into the weekend.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced Wednesday that Norfolk State University and Virginia Beach have been selected to host Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships four years in a row:
2023 Division II Championships
2024 Division III Championships
2025 Division I Championships
2026 Division II Championships
The national championships will take place at the new Virginia Beach Sports Center. This will mark the first time NSU will serve as the host institution for an NCAA Championship event and the first time a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) will host an NCAA Division I national championship track event.
The All-America Lacrosse Championships, a two-day lacrosse event featuring the best boys and girls high school senior lacrosse players, takes place this weekend in Virginia Beach. The games will be played on Saturday and Sunday at the PAAC and Sportsplex. The Saturday championships will be aired on ESPN3 and replayed on ESPNU. Also, the Fall Frenzy Softball Tournament, a two-day tournament featuring teams in the 10U-14U age categories, will be played Saturday and Sunday at the PAAC softball fields.
We are happy to end the week on such a high note!
Sincerely,
Bill Hanbury, CVB Executive Advisor
