Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau

Good morning,

We are fast approaching the close of an unprecedented year for our industry. I'd like to share a quote I read earlier this week that truly resonated with me. US Travel Association President & CEO Roger Dow said the following as part of his holiday message to the travel industry, "Throughout 2020, we have proven our incredible resilience, our combined strength, and our commitment to staying united." I couldn't agree with Roger more. I have seen what we can do when we join forces toward our common goal of making Virginia Beach THE destination of choice for millions of visitors year-round. I have experienced the highs and lows of the past 20+ years with many of you, and I know what we can do together when faced with challenges.

My hope for our industry in 2021 is for continued resiliency and stronger community partnerships. You've all heard this a lot quite often this year but it's true: we ARE all in this together. Together, we will bring our legacy visitors back to the place they know and love. Together, we will host the new generations of travelers on the rise. Together, we will recover.

As my final Friday message to you this year, I'd like you to debut the CVB 2020 holiday greeting, a video filled with scenes of our beautiful destination and messages of hope and encouragement. While viewing, please take a moment to reflect on who we are and what we offer - a beautiful, vibrant coastal city filled with great people capable of doing amazing things.

From all of us at the CVB to all of you, Happy Holidays!

Stay safe and well,

Nancy Helman
CVB Interim Director
