I’m excited to share that Lauren Townsend will be assuming the role of Interim Vice President of Marketing Communications effective February 25. Lauren has done a fantastic job for us and I have full confidence she’ll continue to do great things in her new role. As many of you know,  Lauren has served as director of marketing at the CVB for the past four years leading the planning, direction and successful execution of strategic destination marketing and communications programs focused on driving demand and visitation across all market segments. Prior to her time at the CVB, she led advertising and brand direction efforts as the in-house marketing manager at VisitNorfolk, and also served as the agency-side account manager for the Virginia Tourism Corporation account at BCF agency. Lauren is a graduate of the University of Virginia and has received an advanced diploma in Cities and Urban Economic Development from New York University. 

Please join me in congratulating Lauren and wishing Tiffany Russell well in her new role with the City’s Communication Office; we look forward to working with her in that capacity. 

I’d like to thank everyone on my team and those in the community for volunteering to assist during the coronavirus vaccination clinics which continue to be held in our Convention Center. By closing time tomorrow evening (Saturday, 2/20), approximately 4,200 first-dose and 8,000 second-dose vaccines will have been dispersed, making this the largest weekly distribution to date. The outpouring of support has been incredible, and we couldn’t do this without the amazing community we are proud to serve.
