Dear Valued Tourism Partners,
Spring is finally here! With this seasonal shift and the time change, I feel we can all see some light at the end of the tunnel. As more members of our community and the country receive their vaccinations, people are becoming more open to travel and that should be music to our ears!
Speaking of vaccinations, yesterday the City moved into phase 1c of COVID-19 vaccinations. This includes hospitality and restaurant workers. Those who haven't been vaccinated yet are encouraged to pre-register as soon as possible either online at https://vaccinate.virginia.gov/ or by calling 877-VAX-IN-VA. Details and more information may be found by clicking here.
The Virginia Beach Sports Center (VBSC) will be buzzing this weekend for two tournaments sponsored by the Tidewater Volleyball Association (TVA). On Saturday, more than 20 adult teams will battle it out for the Steve Blevins Memorial Big Money Tournament. Offering cash prizes, players from as far as New Jersey and South Carolina, among other states, will hit the courts to vie for the $5,000 in purses. Also on tap this weekend at the VBSC is the Virginia Beach Spring Fling, a new JVA-sanctioned two-day event for girls and one-day events for boys. All total almost 900 athletes, both adult and youth, will take over 18 of the 24 hard courts this weekend. The action starts Saturday morning at 7 a.m. and runs through Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Spectator tickets are on sale; find all the weekend details here.
If you are celebrating this weekend or on spring break during the coming week, I wish you and yours all the best.
My team and I stand ready to assist as needed; please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Nancy Helman
CVB Interim Director
