April 16, 2021

Dear Valued Tourism Partners,

We’re full steam ahead for the 2021 season and it's encouraging to see progress already underway at the Resort Area thanks to the new Beach Ambassador program. There will be significant changes made to enhance the Oceanfront and it’s all very exciting. The CVB is looking forward to building a strong working relationship with the realigned Resort Management Office led by Interim Administrator Brian Solis.

This week the CVB hosted our monthly Advertising Advisory Committee and Director of Sales meetings. There was lots of information to share in both meetings. The presentations made at each meeting are available at the links below; please let me know if there are any questions or concerns.

There is a lot going on this weekend! Softball season brings the 2021 Beast of the East to the Princess Anne Athletic Fields with more than 300 players. The Sports Center will host two events this weekend: the 2021 Hoop Group Elite Basketball tournament and the 2021 ACPL Virginia Beach Volleyball tournament. These sports events are anticipated to bring an additional several thousand athletes to town this Saturday and Sunday. Check out our Sports Event webpage for more info.

A shout-out to our neighbors in the ViBE Creative District who are gearing up for a busy weekend of art in action. Local and regional artists will paint their original work on murals along 19th Street to create eight new neighborhood identifier pillars. This new “sense of arrival” project will be amazing when completed and I’m looking forward to seeing what a difference it creates. The artists are working out in the open and spectators are encouraged to watch them in action. Find more info here

Uptown is the place to go where your four-legged companion can enjoy a treat or two. With more than 20 pet-friendly businesses, pups are treated like kings and queens every day at Town Center. For a complete listing of all the Town Center district businesses, click here.

I hope you have some time to check out some of the happenings this weekend. Your CVB team is here to assist you at any time; please do not hesitate to reach out if we can be of help.

Sincerely,

Nancy Helman
CVB Interim Director
