Dear Valued Tourism Industry Partners,
I hope you were able to connect with some of the STS delegates (tour operators and suppliers) and the accompanying team of journalists who were in town this past week to prospect Virginia Beach for their clients. Between highlighting our coastal gem of a city’s natural beauty, showing off the many aspects of why Virginia Beach is a truly unique destination, and sharing our bountiful boat-to-table and farm-to-table riches, I feel it's safe to say there were many first-timer and return visitors who were overheard saying, “I had no idea!” That comment was heard time and time again from many, from those attending the fantastic event at the Virginia Aquarium to those shopping and dining at Town Center. Thank you for everything you did to make us shine!
Sports Events Across City Keeps VB Hopping
While this week was super busy with STS, we’re still keeping things moving and shaking in Sports. As I share this message with you, hundreds of athletes are either already here or descending upon Virginia Beach for a competition weekend in wrestling, volleyball, field hockey, gymnastics, and soccer. Thanks to our awesome sports marketing team who keep the fields, courts, and lanes across the city filled with amazing energy week in and week out!
A few of this week’s events to note:
- VHSL State Wrestling Championships – Feb. 18-19 ( VB Sports Center)
- USA Field Hockey National Indoor Festival - Feb. 18-20 (VB Field House)
- Excalibur Cup Gymnastics – Feb. 18-20 (VB Convention Center)
- Steel Sports Festival – February 19-20 (Rave Soccer Complex)
Shamrock’s Golden Anniversary
Remember that the Shamrock Marathon is turning 50 this year and we are only 30 days out from this locals’ favorite! Let’s be sure we paint the town green to show our love for this fun race weekend. Registration is still open and the Schedule of Events may be found here.
