February 25, 2022
Dear Valued Tourism Industry Partners,
It’s almost time to set the clocks forward again and we can’t wait! Longer, warmer days and lots of happy guests - sounds like music to our ears!
We’ve received some great feedback from the STS leadership team about how pleased they are with the outcome of their 2022 Domestic Showcase in Virginia Beach. They were very complimentary of our performance as a host city and our sales teams are excited about all the enthusiastic chatter they’ve heard from their networks. Thank you for everything you have done in helping us pull this event together and hosting our guests while they were in town.
CVB Visits Operation Smile Partners
Following the February AAC meeting last week, several members of the CVB leadership team joined me for an informal field trip to meet Operation Smile’s Interactive Learning Center team. We’ve been inspired by their work to create a destination within the destination for visiting patients and their families. We hope to further discuss the potential Operation Smile has as a host venue for any number of incoming events and/or meetings. Click here for more information.
Good Vibes Run/Walk Trail to Be Officially Marked
I’m excited to share that the markers identifying the ViBe Creative District's newest feature, the “Good Vibes Run/Walk Trail,” are scheduled to be installed this weekend. Developed in partnership between VBCVB Sports Marketing and the ViBe Creative District to identify a warm-up route for competing athletes, the trail has expanded into an opportunity for athletes’ supporting families and friends to have an identified route they can also use to explore the ViBe Creative District. Signs with a QR code to access the route will be installed on Friday at the Sports Center. Find more information about the trail here.
Recycle Old Electronics for EcoFriendly Disposal at the Virginia Aquarium
The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center’s bi-annual E-Cycling Event takes place next month on Saturday, March 12 from 9 a.m. to noon for the community to recycle personally owned electronic waste. Conducted by volunteers, the Virginia Aquarium has hosted 20 e-cycling events since 2009 that have collectively diverted more than 350 tons or 700,000 pounds of e-waste from the landfill. Find out more about this event here.
Upcoming CVB Events
Remember, we’re only three weeks away from the 50th Annual Shamrock Marathon so be sure to sign up if you haven't already. We look forward to seeing you out there soon!
My team and I remain committed to you and our industry. Please let us know how we can assist you.
