Dear Valued Tourism Industry Partners,
As we head toward Memorial Day and the start of summer, I can’t tell you how excited my team and I are about the upcoming season! As our Spring/Summer campaign advertises, Virginia Beach is open and our invitation to visit extends to everyone. From the sheer volume of people seen across the City the past few weeks, we anticipate a steady, busy season this year. Not only do we have the best beaches and people, as you’ll see later in this message, the event and entertainment lineup this year is something to be proud of!
Thank You To Our Beach Ambassadors & City Allies
A special shout out to our Block by Block Beach Ambassadors, our Resort Management team and the staff at Public Works Beach Operations and Building Maintenance for all their extra work to make the Resort stunning and welcoming for our guests as they arrive for their long-awaited vacations. It takes a lot of dedication and passion to keep our Resort in shape, and luckily for us, these groups take their mission to heart and it shows.
2022 Entertainment and Events
Beachevents has worked hard to bring us an exciting, diverse mix of activities and
entertainment this season - check out their website with a calendar of events, list of festivals, and Virginia Beach happ

New Partner Coordinator!
Please help me congratulate Brande Rumpf as she competed for and was selected as the newly created Partner Coordinator for CVB. This new position was created to coordinate and facilitate a stakeholder/partner engagement program, assist with the execution of the strategic plan, oversee and create alignment between council-appointed committees, coordinate special projects, and much more. Brande has been a valued member of the City for 23 years and 20 of them spent full time at CVB. For the past 13 years, Brande has been the executive assistant to the director. She has worked diligently during her tenure to cultivate important relationships, both internally and externally, which will be valuable as we integrate this new position into the CVB family. While Brande’s role is changing, her location is not. You can find her smiling face in the same office in Suite 500.
Memorial Day Ceremony Planned
It's easy to forget the true reason for our long weekend. If you get a chance, the Mayor’s Veterans Committee is holding their annual Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 30 beginning at noon, at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial on 19th St. across from the convention center. Everyone is welcome to attend this free event, which takes place outdoors and will include a military flyover of vintage warcraft, in addition to musical tributes and the laying of wreaths for our war heroes.
Upcoming Events
As always, my team and I remain committed to you and our industry. Please let me know how we can assist.
Sincerely,
Nancy Helman
CVB Director
