Dear Valued Tourism Industry Partners, 

I hope everyone had a great holiday. We are excited to feel the buzz around the city as our guests arrive daily for their long-awaited visits, and wish you all the best of luck in these busy summer months. 

They’re Back and They Brought Friends! - Re-established by a City Council resolution in December 2021, the Resort Management Office (RMO) rejoined the CVB  effective July 1, 2022. The responsibilities have grown to comprehensively identify and address areas for the betterment of the Resort Area. Over the years, RMO has been a division of the CVB and more recently, the Strategic Growth Area Office.  The RMO responsibilities include permitting and event support of city-wide events and filming activity, management of the boardwalk vendors, outdoor cafes, beach rentals, and fall-winter seasonal horseback rides. The RMO stays current on projects and maintenance in the Resort Area to effectively communicate with area businesses, residents, and city departments. They provide oversight of the Beachevents entertainment program as well as a new program: the Beach Ambassadors, who work to keep Atlantic Avenue and the boardwalk clean and welcoming to guests and residents. The RMO also gained dedicated Zoning and Code Enforcement staff and a homeless outreach team through an agreement with the departments of Planning and Housing and Neighborhood Preservation. The RMO is a small but mighty team and is happy to be once again back in the CVB family! Please be sure to say hi to Lisa and the team when you see them - they are all over the Resort Area and look forward to connecting with all of our partners. 

SummerFest 2022 - Don’t miss this new, free concert series at the Town Center Fountain Plaza brought to you by the Central Business District Association (CBDA). Beach Blanket Cinema Series A Family Favorite - Hands down there is nothing like having toes in the sand under the stars - unless there’s a giant movie screen in the mix, too! Virginia Beach Events’ Beach Blanket Cinema Series has easily become a summertime favorite for local families and guests alike. This year’s scheduled movie lineup offers something for everyone and each family-friendly show is free! Arrive a bit early to claim your family’s spot, on 29th Street in the sand, on Thursday nights through August 18th. Movies begin promptly at 8:30 p.m., weather permitting. Concessions will be available on the Boardwalk or bring your own along with a blanket or chair. For more details and movie listings, click here.
