Dear Valued Tourism Industry Partners,
August snuck up on us rather quickly. As a matter of fact, from my perspective, it feels like the whole summer has been flying by at lightning speed. Time really does fly when you’re having fun. And, it seems, it is not just my imagination!
According to Smith Travel Research, Virginia Beach occupancy rates reached a solid 87% between July 17 and July 23. Add to that some great media coverage in a number of travel and niche market publications, and we’ve been enjoying a pretty great summer, so far. But don’t take my word for it-read on!

In an article for the New Jersey Digest, James Barrett features Virginia Beach in “If you love Atlantic City, add these weekend getaways to your list.” Barrett shares that our wide clean beaches offer ample opportunity to soak up the sun or splash in the surf, and make for an enticing weekend visit this summer.
