Last weekend’s events were so much fun! I have heard nothing but good things about the whole weekend! Speaking of good things, if ghosts and goblins were the “theme” for October, then those who are rocked by the horsepower of an engine are going to be ecstatic! Read on for some more good news on that front.
State of Tourism Economic Study Presentation - We’re encouraged to see more than 125 of you have already signed up for our State of Tourism presentation on Wednesday, Nov. 16. As mentioned in the past several weeks, the long-awaited 2021 tourism economic impact study has been completed and will be shared with Virginia Beach City Council by Geoff Lacher of Tourism Economics on Tuesday, Nov. 15. The next morning, beginning at 8:00 am, the CVB will hold a State of Tourism Breakfast event at the Convention Center where Geoff will share his presentation with those in attendance. Meetings and Conventions- The Sales team is gearing up for another busy month of activities! Meetings and Conventions Sales Manager, Scott Warren, will be working the Coastal Virginia Auto Show speaking to our out of town guests.Fellow Sales Managers, Amy Overstreet and Jamie Mitchell, are on their way to Richmond to be with the Government Society of Meeting Planners and the Virginia Society of Association of Executives respectively. And just this week, Director of Convention Sales and Marketing, Sally Noona was featured in the Events Industry Council’s monthly newsletter! Check it out here!
Inaugural Virginia Beach Jeep Fest - A new event will land on the sands of our Resort beach over the weekend of Nov. 12 - 13. Jeep enthusiasts will unite for Virginia Beach’s first Virginia Beach Jeep Fest! Be a part of history and register for this inaugural event today. Coastal Virginia Auto Show Returns Nov. 18 – 20 - One of the largest car shows in the Mid-Atlantic, the 7th Annual Coastal Virginia Auto Show returns to rule the Convention Center with a three-day indoor show featuring national award-winning show cars, celebrities, live entertainment, prizes, giveaways, a children’s area and more. An outdoor show will be held on Sat. Nov. 19, weather permitting, in front of the Convention Center. Over $15,000 in cash, awards and prizes are up for grabs. This is going to be a great family event with something for everyone! Find out more here.

Hotel Performance for the Week of October 16 - 22: According to STR, Virginia Beach was within the top 25 performing DMO’s for the week of Oct. 16 - 22. Our hotel occupancy rate for this week was up 6.8% at 61.9% occupancy but slightly down -1.2% for the running 28-day trend. ADR was up 7.9% to $122.42 for the week and up 3.4% for the running 28-day trend. RevPAR was also up 15.3% at $75.75 and up 2.1% for the running 28-day trend. In comparison to 2019, we are up in regards to occupancy with an increase of 1.3%, ADR with an increase of 25.21%, and RevPAR with an increase of 22.4%.
