It may not yet be winter but it’s definitely December, and I’m not just referring to the cold snap. I challenge you to stop and take a look around: Virginia Beach is one festive City! Not only do we have the only boardwalk holiday light display on the East Coast, and delightful holiday displays across our many unique districts and neighborhoods, but we lay claim to the largest Santa Claus run in the world! Check us out in the famously fun Guiness Book of World Records and come out this Saturday cheer on your favorite Santa Claus! ViBe Holiday Art Display & December 17 Market Announcement - A special public art display is now on view in ViBe Park where hand-painted holiday ornaments from 19 local teens adorn the park fence. Representing talent from six Virginia Beach schools, the students were commissioned to paint original artworks as part of the ViBe Creative District's Holiday Parade at the Beach float. After debuting in the parade, the ornaments were installed as the "Holiday ViBes Teen Art Exhibit" at 18th Street and Cypress Avenue. This creative arts showcase will be displayed through January 5, 2023. The ViBe Creative District offers year-round opportunities for teens and adult artists through programming supported by the Virginia Beach Cultural Affairs Office.
Last minute holiday shoppers won’t want to miss this Saturday, Dec. 17, as the final ViBe Markets for 2022 will feature holiday fun from 9 am to noon. Don’t miss this great chance to support the Old Beach Farmers Market, the Old Beach Art & Eco Market, the VB Flea Market and Military Owned Collaborative all on the same day!
 
Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Last Night on the Town - Ring in 2023 at Virginia Beach’s premier New Year’s Eve event. Created by the Central Business District Association, Town Center’s Last Night On The Town is a celebration not to be missed. Take advantage of the free family-friendly activities from 6 - 9 pm in the Fountain Plaza. General admission for all is free. Adults 21 and older who feel like stepping up their game a bit will find there is a luxury VIP experience available for purchase complete with an elevated, private viewing area, photo ops with the performers, party swag, a champagne toast and much more. Hotel Performance for the Week of November 27 - December 3: According to STR, Virginia Beach was within the top 25 performing DMO’s for the week of November 27 – December 3. Virginia Beach’s hotel occupancy rate for this week was slightly down -12.1% at 41.1% occupancy and down -1.9% for the running 28-day trend. ADR was up 4.2% to $102.33 for the week and up 6.5% for the running 28-day trend. RevPAR was slightly down -8.3% at $42.01 but up 4.5% for the running 28-day trend. In comparison to 2019, we are down in regard to occupancy with a slight decrease of -0.9% but counter this with an increase in ADR and RevPAR of 15.8% and 14.8% respectively.
