September 1, 2023

Dear Valued Tourism Partners:

Welcome to September… Our industry is gearing up for a busy fall and we are ready to welcome our guests for our major festivals and events coming up from our newest race to the Shriners to Neptune Festival.  Thank you for rolling out the welcome mat throughout the year and finding creative ways to enhance our guest experience.

To our beloved Mid-Atlantic Shriners, thank you for continuing to return to our destination each year at this time to conduct your annual business and to show Virginia Beach a good time. Your parade is a local favorite! Thank you for all you do to help the children. Find out more here.

To those ready to celebrate the beach life by participating in one of the many Neptune Festival events, welcome! While September is full of Neptune Festival events and happenings, the Neptune Festival proudly offers more than 40+ events year round that bring the people of Virginia Beach and surrounding areas together. What makes this festival so unique is that while having fun, the events also benefit other non-profit organizations. For a complete listing of all of the festival’s events, click here.

Congratulations to the CVB Sport Tourism Team on the news that the 2023 Tribu Jackalope Festival has been nominated by the readers of SportsTravel and is a finalist for a 2023 SportsTravel Award. This nomination can be found on the awards ballot that appears at www.SportsTravelAwards.com. Voting is open through September 8, 2023, vote and spread the word!

CVB Sales Activity and News: The M&C Sales and Services team is holding their annual retreat this week as they prepare for a very busy fall and the pending arrival of the Mid-Atlantic Shriners next week.

This Labor Day weekend, Virginia Beach is poised to become an epicenter of athletic prowess and rich cultural celebration. The festivities commence with the Inaugural 2023 Virginia Beach 10-Miler, presented by J & A Racing. The excitement starts with a spirited 5K race and an oceanfront fiesta on Saturday, leading up to the marquee 10-mile race on Sunday. In tandem, the Virginia Beach Sports Center proudly welcomes the 2023 NABA Intercity Tournament. This isn't just another sports event; it's a vivid showcase of Filipino culture, highlighting diverse sports, from basketball and volleyball to badminton and bowling. For soccer aficionados, the wait is over! The 2023 International Super Cup promises thrilling moments at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex, the homegrown event will feature elite teams from both local and international landscapes. With an anticipated 7,000 athletes ready to perform, our venues are gearing up for a dynamic atmosphere. We're thrilled to culminate the summer season with a Labor Day weekend like no other, alongside all those who've chosen the charm of Virginia Beach.

This week, the VBCC welcomed the Opioid Abatement Town Hall hosted by the City’s Human Services Department, and today opened the Expo & Packet Pickup for the inaugural Virginia Beach 10 Miler hosted by J&A Racing.

This was a busy week for International Travel Writers in Virginia Beach as Kelli hosted journalists from the UK and Germany.  Pictured below is just one of the many posts on social media about kayaking with dolphins.  A big thank you to our incredible Tourism Partners for offering these great experiences!
